About The Role
A unique opportunity has arisen as we look to cover the Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) Lead role and Early Mealtime Service (EMS) Lead role.
📅 Fixed Term Contract, from 11th May - 31st December 2026 (possibility of extension)

The coming year is a pivotal for Ability WA with the roll-out of Thriving Kids in WA bringing exciting opportunities for growth and innovation.
The ECI Lead (0.6FTE) will work closely with the Executive General Manager Therapy Services to drive quality and ensure timely delivery of Ability WA’s ECI service offer, and will play an integral role in positioning Ability WA for the future. The EMS Lead (0.4FTE) may be the same person (for full-time work) or another passionate Speech Pathologist experienced in both ECI and mealtimes.
Key responsibilities for ECI Lead include:
- Leading stakeholder engagement across the ECI landscape
- Attending ECI Collaborative
- Coordinating ECI Community of Practice across Therapy Services
- Coordination and presenting ECI Masterclasses and clinical upskilling initiatives
- Leading the ECI career pathway, supporting workforce development
Key responsibilities for EMS Lead include:
- Coordination and leadership of EMS program
- Ensuring deliverables for 2026 Telethon grant are achieved (customer outcomes, budget oversight etc)
- Supporting EMS team with customer on-boarding and exit
- Provision of clinical expertise as Clinical Lead Speech Pathologist, including some customer-facing work
- Upskilling and support of wider Ability WA team in area of paediatric feeding / early mealtimes
These roles report to the Executive General Manager Therapy Services, and provide significant influence over how our ECI services evolve in 2026, as well as the development of team capability across Therapy Services.
We are open to appointing one or two highly motivated therapists with strong ECI experience to fulfill these portfolios.

- EMS Lead 0.4FTE (Speech Pathologist)

About You
We’re looking for someone who brings:
- 4+ years of experience in ECI and/or paediatric feeding / early mealtimes;
- Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing peers;
- Leadership behaviours consistent with Clinical Lead/Team Leader level, with the ability to influence, guide, and support others;
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with a commitment to multidisciplinary practice;
- Confidence reporting to Operational Managers, Executive and external stakeholders, with clear and professional communication;
- Passion for quality improvement and delivering best practice in ECI - to imporve outcomes for young children and their families.
