Therapy Assisant

About the role

You’ll play a key role in supporting the delivery of an innovative new Assistive Technology program across diverse settings -  based at our Ability TECH Malaga workshop. You will have opportunities to visit customers’ homes, community spaces, educational environments and engage with therapists. In fact, you’ll work closely with Allied Health and other professionals, family members and support workers as well as technically minded workshop staff, to ensure the equipment process and customer experience runs smoothly and effectively.

You’ll also have the opportunity to work hands-on and get your hands dirty with assistive technology and therapy equipment, helping customers use devices that empower them to realise their abilities. 

📅 Part-time position (0.4 FTE), 12-month contract

📍 Based at Ability TECH Malaga

In this role, you will:

  • Assist therapists and collaborate with workshop, technical staff and other stakeholders to deliver a program. 
  • Prepare assistive technology related therapy resources, documentation and equipment to ensure programs run effectively.
  • Liaise with customers, families, carers, colleagues, and community members to provide a coordinated therapy service.

 

About You

You’ll thrive in this role if you have:

  • A passion and confidence for working with assistive technology and supporting people with disabilities
  • Certificate IV in Disability Work, or are completing an allied health tertiary qualification, or have extensive relevant experience supporting people with disabilities  and their family/supporters
  • Ability to deliver services and complete tasks in consultation with therapists and workshop staff
  • A collaborative and caring approach when working with customers and families
  • Strong communication and organisational skills

  • The right to work in Australia
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • National Police Clearance (within 6 months)
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate
  • Driver’s License
  • Working with Children Check
  • First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate
  • NDIS Workers Orientation Module
