Ability WA is offering a clear leadership pathway for experienced Support Workers through Acting Coordinator opportunities across our regions in 2026. These roles are designed for people who want to gain real Coordinator experience, build leadership capability and prepare themselves for future permanent Coordinator roles.
We are seeking Acting Coordinators in the following regions:
- North
- South
- Central East
- Central West
- Coolbinia

How you’ll make a difference
As an Acting Coordinator, you’ll step up to support service continuity during planned and unplanned Coordinator absences within your region.
In this role you will:
- Support customers to live a quality and meaningful life
- Coordinate day‑to‑day operations across one or more houses or sites
- Lead, coach and guide Support Workers in best practice
- Work closely with leadership to manage risk, quality and compliance
- Apply Ability WA values, policies and procedures in operational decisions
You will be supported through training, guidance and ongoing feedback to help you grow into the role with confidence.
Selection Process
Support Workers interested in progressing into leadership are encouraged to apply.
Applicants will be invited to interview to assess readiness, development goals and suitability for acting opportunities within their nominated region(s).
About You
To succeed in the role, you will bring:
- Experience as a Support Worker with a strong understanding of service delivery
- A desirable tertiary qualification (or equivalent) in Health, Disability, Social Services, Behavioural or Sciences
- Opportunities may exist for Ability WA support toward further study or a traineeship
- A commitment to the NDIS and the Quality & Safeguarding Framework
- Strong communication, organisational and people leadership skills
- A genuine interest in career progression and leadership development
